Winter weather is becoming increasingly unpredictable, and for many homeowners, a standard shovel simply won’t cut it anymore. If you have a mid-sized driveway, a 24-inch snow blower offers the “Goldilocks” solution: wide enough to clear paths in half the time, but compact enough to maneuver around cars and into tight garage corners.

If you have a larger driveway, you might not want to limit your search to 24-inch snowblowers only. A larger clearing width might come in handy and speed up the work. In this case, check out our comprehensive breakdown of the best two-stage snow blowers, or best Ariens snowblowers, which include models up to 30-inch clearing width. If you prefer a 24-inch model, keep on reading…

In 2026, we are seeing a significant trend: more people are ditching the gas can for cordless electric snow blowers. One of these battery-powered beasts has become the Editor’s Choice this year because it offers the same 24-inch clearing width as gas models but with zero fumes, no oil changes, and significantly less noise. According to recent industry analysis, the demand for eco-friendly snow removal equipment has surged by nearly 20%, as users prioritize “push-button” convenience over the maintenance headaches of traditional small engines.

Whether you prefer the raw endurance of gas or the modern efficiency of electric, our updated 2026 guide highlights the top 7 of 24-inch models that balance power, durability, and ease of use.

The EGO Power+ 24″ two-stage snow blowers deliver the convenience of battery power with performance comparable to compact gas models. I prefer this electric snow blower because it offers strong, reliable clearing without fumes, pull cords, or excessive engine noise.

Expert Tip: If you need batteries and a charger, choose the SNT2405 kit. It’s the same machine as the SNT2400, but bundled with two 7.5 Ah batteries and a dual-port charger.

EGO’s reputation for innovation is reflected in both the SNT2400 and SNT2410. They share a 24-inch clearing width, 20-inch intake height, and run on two 56 V EGO batteries (sold separately). With the recommended batteries, they can throw snow up to 50 ft and clear an 18-car driveway with 8″ of snow on a single charge.

Both models are self-propelled with variable speed control and feature separate brushless motors for the auger and drive, ensuring smooth, reliable performance with minimal maintenance. The heavy-duty steel auger handles wet and frozen snow with ease, while the intuitive control dashboard lets you easily adjust auger speed and forward or reverse drive. Practical extras like 200-degree chute rotation and built-in LED lights further enhance usability.

The SNT2410 adds comfort-focused upgrades, including heated handle grips, a joystick-style chute control, and trigger-assisted steering for easier maneuvering. Users praise the strong battery performance and reduced fatigue, especially on larger driveways, with the SNT2410 standing out for improved comfort during longer clearing sessions.

What we liked: Starting the unit is a breeze. The best of it all is the convenience of the machine – all controls are easily operable and provide maximum comfort. LED headlights are bright, making work in the nighttime as easy as it gets.

What could be better: Some users report that it struggles with very deep snow, but that wasn’t our experience during testing.

Best Gas 24-Inch

Ariens Deluxe 24

Features
  • Size: 55 x 27 x 44 inches
  • Weight: 250 lbs
  • Power type: gas
  • Output: 254cc, Ariens® AX
  • Warranty: 3 years

More features: two stages; auto-turn steering technology

Ariens has long been regarded as one of the most dependable names in the snow blower industry, and after years of testing and reviewing residential machines, it’s easy to see why the Ariens Deluxe 24 continues to be one of their most talked-about models. It delivers a well-judged mix of power, size, and usability that makes it ideal for homeowners who want serious snow-clearing capability without jumping to bulky commercial equipment.

The Deluxe 24 is powered by a 254cc Ariens AX engine, and from hands-on experience, it has more than enough torque to handle heavy, wet, and compacted snow—the kind that cheaper machines struggle with. Its 24-inch clearing width and tall intake housing make quick work of full driveways and deep snowfall. The two-stage system, equipped with serrated steel augers and a fast-spinning impeller, throws snow far and cleanly, which means less time redoing areas you’ve already cleared.

One feature I consistently appreciate when using this model is Ariens Auto-Turn™ steering. For a machine of this weight, it feels surprisingly agile, especially at the end of passes or when navigating tighter spaces. The electric start is reliable even in freezing conditions, and the remote chute and deflector controls let you fine-tune snow placement on the fly—something I consider essential once you’ve used it. The built-in LED headlight is another practical addition that proves its worth during early morning or late evening cleanups.

What’s interesting is how closely my experience matches real-world owner feedback. If you spend any time browsing snow blower discussions on Reddit, you’ll see the Deluxe 24 mentioned frequently for its durability and long-term reliability.

As a reviewer, I always place a lot of weight on parts availability and serviceability, and Ariens excels here. Replacement parts are easy to find, service is straightforward, and the machines are clearly built with longevity in mind—something both professionals and homeowners value.

My final verdict is that the Ariens Deluxe 24 feels solid, confidence-inspiring, and genuinely well-engineered. It has the strength to handle major winter storms but remains comfortable and intuitive for everyday snow clearing. From a professional standpoint, it’s one of the most well-rounded residential snow blowers you can buy.

What we liked: The Ariens Deluxe 24 delivers excellent power and snow-throwing performance without feeling oversized or unwieldy. It’s durable, easy to maneuver for its class, thoughtfully equipped, and clearly built for long-term reliability.

What could be better:  Its solid, heavy-duty construction can feel like overkill for smaller driveways, and homeowners looking for a lighter or more budget-friendly option may find it more machine than they truly need.

PowerSmart DB7109A

Features
  • Size: 49 x 25 x 44 inches
  • Weight: 143 lbs.
  • Power type: gas
  • Output: 212cc
  • Warranty: 2 years

More features: recoil/electric start, self-propelled, 13-inch inflatable tires, 2-year warranty, 40 ft discharge

CURRENTLY OUT OF STOCK – CLICK THE LINK FOR OUR NEXT BEST PICK

PowerSmart DB7109A is an excellent 24-inch snowblower for people living in regions receiving heavy snowfall. The machine boasts features such as 20-inch clearing depth, 13-inch deep tread inflatable tires, six forward and two backward speed variations, and a push-button electric start. Besides, you could use its manual starter if you like. Its dual-trigger steering and 180-degrees chute rotation allow smooth snow-blowing control.

Moreover, it features adjustable metal skid shoes for better usage on different surfaces. When it comes to its design, the machine feels stable, sturdy, and ergonomic. Putting it together is a breeze if you read the instruction before attempting anything. The 212cc is a powerful engine with a throwing capacity of 40 feet – be careful not to throw snow into your neighbor’s driveway or compound.

What we liked: It’s a fantastic product with a decent delivery. The engine cranks up quickly after priming it. Ensure you check the oil (it doesn’t come with it) before starting it. It’s a massive and very stable blower that doesn’t topple over. While the blower is solemn, still a minor can clear the snow with ease. Its reliability is excellent and clears snow with great effectiveness at a lower cost. The blower is perfect for an average size person.

What could be better: Its maneuverability could be a bit better. Besides, the reverse function can be disappointing at times, making it better to pull backward instead of reverse gear. Lacks adjustable throttle, and the chute is hard to adjust. All in all, PowerSmart DB7109A is a lovely 24 snowblower and budget-friendly.

The Ariens Compact 24 RapidTrak is an excellent snow-blowing machine with a powerful engine that enables it to clear large amounts of snow conveniently. The best of it all is that the Ariens Compact 24 RapidTrak snow blower is engineered for reliable performance in tough winter conditions. Best Mid-Range

Poulan Pro PR241

Features
  • Size: 54 x 26 x 45 inches
  • Weight: 174 lbs.
  • Power type: gas
  • Output: 212cc
  • Warranty: 2 years

More features: electric start; two-stage; remote chute deflector; reduced tipping force; heated grips; easy to use; improved power steering

If you’ve been looking for a mid-range priced snowblower that can handle regular snow well, then look no further than the Poulan Pro PR241. The unit features a powerful and robust engine and uses a two-step stage to clear snow. Its powerful ribbon augers allow it to break through snow and even ice with ease. Also, it boasts a remote chute and deflector controls that make it easy to direct the snow where you want.

It features heated handles for maximum convenience. Also, it has single-hand control enabled with six forward speeds and one reverse. Other ideal places to use it include gravel areas, sidewalks, and car driveways. Instructions are straightforward, and assembly is quick.

In my opinion, construction feels sturdy and seems durable to withstand harsh winter conditions. However, some owners and commenters report issues with durability and performance, especially in heavier or deeper snow. Many say these machines aren’t built as robustly as premium brands and may struggle more in wet, compacted, or deep snow. Also, it might not be easy to replace broken parts…

What we liked: The unit has plenty of horsepowers to handle regular snow. It’s a big machine, starts up fast, and cuts through 12+ inch snow well. The heated handles provide a warm welcome. Assembling is quick, and the redesigned control panel is a plus.

What could be better: According to Reddit, durability is not great. However, in our opinion it felt sturdy and good quality for that price. Also, if something breaks, it might not be easy to get new parts.

Honda HSS724 AAWD

Features
  • Size: 59 x 27 x 44 inches
  • Weight: 220 lbs
  • Power type: gas
  • Output: 196cc Honda GX200
  • Warranty: 3 years

More features: two-stage snow thrower; auto-turn steering technology, chute turning radius 198 degrees, clearing height 21,7″, 0,82 gallons fuel capacity

The Honda Power Equipment HSS724AAWD is a premium 24-inch snow blower aimed at homeowners who value long-term reliability, smooth operation, and refined engineering over raw size or aggressive styling. Built around a commercial-grade Honda GX200 196cc engine, this two-stage snow blower delivers steady, predictable power in deep, wet, and compacted snow, while remaining easy to control for everyday residential use.

In real-world operation, the hydrostatic drive system is one of this machine’s strongest assets. Speed changes are smooth and intuitive, without the gear hunting or abrupt engagement common on friction-disc systems. The 12V electric start, electric chute joystick, and well-balanced chassis all contribute to a machine that feels carefully engineered rather than simply powerful.

The HSS724 series is frequently praised for reliability and low maintenance over many seasons. Owners also echo these strengths on community forums. A long-term Reddit owner described how the HSS724 series “runs smoothly and reliably years later,” with the engine settling into a stable, “smooth purr” even after heavy use. On SnowblowerForum, users comparing Honda to other brands note that while some competitors may offer bigger engines, Honda’s build quality, ease of use, and low maintenance needs make the HSS724 a standout in its class — especially when you value dependability over raw specs.

Overall, the Honda HSS724AAWD stands out as a thoughtfully engineered 24 inch snow blower that favors smooth performance, reliability, and ease of use. It’s best suited for homeowners who want a premium machine they can rely on year after year, rather than chasing maximum specs or the lowest price.

What we liked: The standout quality of the HSS724AAWD is how refined it feels in use. The engine starts reliably even in harsh cold, runs smoothly under load, and maintains consistent throwing performance in heavy snow. Maneuverability is excellent for a 24-inch snow blower, and the hydrostatic drive makes it easy to adjust pace precisely without stopping. Owner feedback consistently highlights durability and long-term dependability, reinforcing Honda’s reputation for building machines that last.

What could be better: The most obvious drawback is the price, which sits noticeably higher than many competing 24-inch models. On paper, the 196cc engine may also appear modest compared to higher-displacement competitors, even though real-world performance largely offsets this concern.

Husqvarna ST224

Features
  • Size: 59 x 24 x 41 inches
  • Weight: 202 lbs
  • Power type: gas
  • Output: 212cc, 5.9 HP
  • Warranty: 2 years

More features: push-button electric start, power steering, adjustable handles, remote chute control, LED headlights, and X-trac heavy-tread tires

The Husqvarna ST224 is a gas-powered 24-inch snow blower designed for homeowners who want reliable performance without the bulk of a commercial machine. With a 24-inch clearing width and tall intake, it’s well-suited for standard driveways and sidewalks, handling both light snow and heavier, packed conditions.

It’s powered by a 212cc Husqvarna engine paired with a two-stage auger and high-speed impeller that efficiently pulls in snow and throws it clear. The self-propelled, friction-disc transmission offers multiple forward speeds and reverse, letting you adjust easily to changing snow conditions.

Ease of use is a strong point. Electric start, power steering, adjustable handle height, and LED headlights improve comfort and control, especially in cold or low-light conditions. Heavy-tread tires provide solid traction, and the remote chute control allows quick direction changes without stopping.

Based on hands-on use and owner feedback, the ST224 is easy to maneuver and starts reliably in cold weather. Some routine belt or cable maintenance may be needed over time, which is typical for mid-range two-stage snow blowers.

What we liked: Overall, the Husqvarna ST224 strikes a smart balance between power, usability, and manageable size, making it a strong all-around choice for residential snow removal.

What could be better: The price… Also, it is not as powerful as premium models, and some owners report belt and cable wear over time.

Things to Consider

Not all 24-inch snowblowers are built the same. Deciding on which to buy can be a daunting task. For instance, choosing between a gas-powered and battery/electrically powered unit might seem a no brainer until you’re faced with the real job to decide. However, knowing your immediate needs beforehand is an important thing that will save you from big trouble. We’ve, therefore, put together a detailed buying guide to help you make informed decisions. Check below for essential things to consider before buying a snowblower.

Advantages of a 24-inch snowblower

24-inch clearing width snowblowers have advantages that might interest you. They include the following.

  • The first obvious benefit is time-saving. You’ll save a lot of time by getting the snow out of the driveway or walkway in no time
  • Next, a 24-inch snow blower is straightforward to use and easy to maintain
  • They’re portable and ideal for most homeowners
  • 24-inch snowblowers boast excellent features that make them high performers and a breeze to use
  • It’s healthy to use them since you won’t suffer backaches, sore hands, and painful shoulders instead of shoveling
  • They’re durable units and worth their prices
  • 24-inch snowblowers are ergonomic, powerful and perform well in harsh weather conditions

Features to consider before you buy a 24-inch snowblower

Knowing the critical elements to consider before purchasing a snowblower will not only save you time but also help you buy a unit that best fits your interests. Regarding size, weight, power type, output, and warranty as essential elements will be instrumental. Let’s look at them in detail below.

Power type

The most significant decision you will face this year is choosing between a traditional gas engine and the increasingly popular electric or battery-powered alternatives. How do you decide on power type? Here are a few questions to ponder: what’s the size of the area you want to clear? Do you find it more fuss to re-fill a gas tank and listen to more noise, or recharge a battery? How thick is the snow? Finally, what’s the type of snow you want to blow out?

While gas-powered units have historically been the superior choice for raw performance in heavy drifts, the market in 2026 has shifted dramatically as battery technology now rivals the torque of small combustion engines. For the average suburban homeowner, our Editor’s Choice is the EGO SNT2405 Kit, which perfectly illustrates why so many people are ditching gas. This specific model includes two 7.5Ah batteries and a rapid charger, delivering enough punch to clear an 18-car driveway on a single charge while remaining significantly quieter and easier to maneuver than its gas counterparts.

Gas snow blowers still remain the premier choice for massive properties or rural areas where you may be working far from a charging station for hours at a time.

If you are dealing with particularly stubborn, icy snow or steep inclines, you may still prefer the mechanical weight and endurance of a traditional setup. In those cases, it is worth comparing these 24-inch models against the high-performance machines found in our guide to the best two-stage snow blowers to ensure you have the traction you need. Ultimately, electric units like the EGO SNT2405 are winning over users because they offer a “push-button” start and require virtually no maintenance, effectively removing the exhaust pollutants and engine headaches from your winter chores.

Size

Size is an essential element to consider due to several factors. The first thing you should look into when deciding on a size is how and where you’ll store your snowblower when not in use. Easy storage should be your point of concern.

Note that size here refers to the total dimension of the unit and not it’s clearing width. Also, size does not necessarily dictate the weight of the unit. However, larger units tend to weigh quite more.

That said, the other thing to consider is the primary person going to operate the machine. The unit’s size, especially its height, should be at least proportional to the operator’s height. Otherwise, expect control issues and back pains. However, understand that most of these machines have several handle heights levels to suit different people.

Weight

Many people tend to ignore weight as a feature because it has no significant effect on snow clearing activity. While these machines are power-driven, their weight is having a substantial impact on the operator. Before you decide on weight, consider the following: Where you live – are there hills to climb with the machine? What’s the nature of the snow you intend to clear? How much weight can you comfortably handle? Finally, how and where will you store the snowblower after use? Answering the questions above will enable you to choose the right weight for you. You don’t want a heavy blower if there are hills to climb. On the contrary, you might want a heavy unit if the type of snow you’ll be clearing is severe. Powersmart PSS2240-X is the lightweight on our list, weighing just 143 lbs. If you want a big boy, then check out the Ariens 24 Deluxe.

7 Best 24-Inch Snow Blowers - Top-Rated for Ease and Power!

Output

The amount of work you’d like to do with your snowblower should determine your output choice. Note that there’s a difference between horsepower and an engine’s cubic centimeters (cc). However, the higher the cc, the greater the horsepower. So, if you want a powerful snowblower, then go for one with a high output.

The best way to decide on the output is by considering the type and depth of snow you want to clear and the size and nature of the area.

All these boil down to one thing – the amount of work to handle.

Warranty

Warranty is also a critical element to consider before buying a snowblower. The best 24-inch snowblowers will always have decent warranties attached to them. A warranty is a sure way to tell you that whatever you’re about to purchase is trustworthy. Manufacturers who believe in their products always give at least a one-year warranty. However, not all warranties determine the credibility of a unit. Some might have long warranty windows but still, be low quality. Note that some manufacturers give different parts specific warranties – such as the engine and the entire unit. We advise you to read carefully through the warranty terms and understand to avoid voiding them.

Spare parts availability

When investing in a snow blower, the long-term cost of ownership is often determined by how easily you can source spare parts. Over time, sacrificial components like shear pins, scraper bars, and drive belts will wear out or break by design to protect the engine and gearbox. If you choose a brand with a limited supply chain, a simple broken bolt can sideline your machine for weeks during the peak of winter.

To ensure your machine is repairable for years to come, stick with major brands that have widely available parts through established dealer networks, or offer them on Amazon.

Brands like Ariens, Honda, and Husqvarna are widely considered the gold standard for parts longevity, with many components remaining unchanged and in stock for decades. If you are going electric, EGO has the most robust support system for replacement batteries and specialized components, ensuring your high-tech investment doesn’t become disposable. For budget-conscious buyers, PowerSmart offers great value, but because their parts can be harder to find in local shops, it’s wise to stock up on essentials early.

FAQ

How much snow can a 24-inch snow blower actually handle?

A 24-inch snow blower is typically a two-stage machine, which is designed to handle significant accumulation. Most models can comfortably clear between 12 and 21 inches of snow in a single pass. If the snow is deeper than the “intake height” (the height of the front bucket), you can still clear it by going slower or taking smaller “bites” of snow at a time.

Is 24 inches wide enough for a standard driveway?

Yes, 24 inches is the “sweet spot” for most suburban homeowners. It is wide enough to clear a standard two-car driveway in about 10 to 12 passes, yet it remains compact enough to store easily in a garage and maneuver through narrow garden gates or walkways where larger 28-inch or 30-inch models might struggle.

Can you use such a snow blower if you have a chronic backache?

Absolutely. 24-inch snow blowers are easy to use and maneuver. Also, they have adjustable height levels to suit different people. What’s more, they’re powerful and efficient; thus, very little strength is needed to operate them. Besides, even the old folks can use them with a lot of ease to clear their driveway. One benefit of these snowblowers is their health cautious; hence you can use it if you have a chronic backache.

How do you store a snowblower safely?

There’s no specific way to store a snowblower. However, it is advisable always to read the manufacturer’s user manual to maintain and keep your machine. For instance, a general rule for most is to drain all the gas before storing them for many days to come. Also, consider covering the unit properly and storing it in a dry facility.

Our verdict

24-inch snow blowers are robust and ideal for homeowners. They do a quick and adorable job in a short time. They’re affordable, easy to use, and maintain. Also, they’re durable and require little assembly when you buy them. We’d advise anyone who wants to make their snow clearing easier to consider buying one. We hope our buying guide will be instrumental for you. However, you might want to consider our top recommendations, such as our Editor’s Choice; the electric snowblower EGO SNT2405 Kit, including 2 batteries and a charger, which perfectly illustrates why so many people are ditching gas.

The Ariens 24 Deluxe is our best gas 24-inch snow thrower pick. It is one of its most popular gas two-stage models, offering reliable performance and easy handling for residential snow clearing. If you are looking to spend less money, the Powersmart PSS2240-X is our best value pick. It features a self-propelled two-stage design, a powerful 212cc engine, electric start, and a 20-inch intake height for efficient snow clearing. We hope our list and buying guide is sufficient for you to find your next best 24-inch snowblower.

Can anyone tell me what’s the max depth of snow these snow blowers can handle?

avatar
Jessie Oconnell

It depends. They’re mostly 2-stage, so I guess up to 12-13 inches.

I just got PowerSmart snow blower, but I was wondering what oil I should use. Please help!

avatar
Brian M.

The manual says 5W-30 4-stroke engine oil. You should make sure they are API classified SJ, SL, or SM. Synthetic oils would work.

Do 24-inch snow blowers work on gravel roads?

avatar
First Mate211

It’s not generally recommended to use snowblowers on gravel roads. If you still intend to, you’ll have to adjust the skid shoes just right so they don’t pick up rocks. Otherwise, it will be dangerous for both the machine and yourself.

It’s the second winter season that I use Ariens ST24LE Deluxe. My impressions are mostly positive. The 254cc engine provides good power for pushing snow. I am still getting used to the controls, but they work. The only downside is that the chute control moves over the other controls on the console and it can be hard to reach at my height. The large tires gave me plenty of traction going forward and in reverse so I was able to move through deep snow. The machine allows to throw snow as far as I want or as close as possible. Electric start is a great feature as well. Started right away. I’ve only had to pull start it once. The negative about this snow thrower is that I had troubles with maneuvering while going forward.

I’ve heard about belt problems that some Husqvarna snow throwers have. Does this ST324 too?

I’ve had it for a year and no issues so far. Have no idea
