1) Submersible Lights.  Certain lights are submersible, which means you can install them on your pond floor.  It is hard to beat the calming aurora of light that submersible lights give off.  They truly make your pond glow beautifully.  Many submersible lights are versatile and can also be installed outside of your pond.  Here are some examples:

• The Laguna PowerGlo Submersible Pond Lights 40 LED can be used under the water, or outside of your pond.  The Laguna PowerGlo Submersible Pond Lights 40 LED come in a pack of two, and can easily be angled to point in your desired direction.  You can just install two lights in the water for a light glow, or you can instal more for a brightly glowing pond.  Using them out of the water, you can angle them to shine on objects near your pool, like figurines or plants.

• If you want some colored lights in your pond, you should get the Egglite Lighting System with Transformer, pictured to the right.  This 12 volt light comes with four color color lenses (yellow, red, orange, and blue).  You can easily change colors for variety.  Sometimes its nice to have all one color lighting up your pond, and sometimes you may feel like you want a couple different colors at once!  The Egglite Lighting System with Transformer can also be used underwater or outside of the water.

2) Floating Lights. The main advantage to lights that float on the top of the water is that they are easy reachable.  In order to adjust submersible lights, you may have to get pretty wet!  Floating lights move across the surface with the wind, which adds a great accent to your pond.  Here is an example:

• The Solar Floating Pond Light are colored floating lights that are available in four colors: amber, blue, red, and green.  You can also get one without the colored disk, which means it will be clear.  The Solar Floating Pond Lights are available in two sizes.  Perhaps the best part of these lights is that they are solar-powered, so you will never have to worry about changing batteries!  These lights really add a great look to any pond.  You can even add them to a pool for a cool look!

The way a fountain works is that a pump will drive water up into the fountain through plastic tubing.  Then the fountain returns the water back into the pond, and then the cycle starts over.  This keeps the water constantly flowing, which prevents stagnant water.   Stagnant water is breeding ground for bacteria and algae, which can definitely detract from your attractive pond!

Before choosing a fountain, you need to make sure you have a pump.  Some fountain heads can be purchased with the pump.  For example, the Pump, Pre-Filter and Fountain Kit, shown to the right, comes with a submersible pump.  It also has a built in filter to remove debris during the circulation process, and of course the fountain head.  There are different settings that control the strength of the flow that comes out of the fountain, so you can control how high the water reaches.  Also, the pump is safe for fish!

If you already have a pump, you only need to purchase the fountain head.  The one that I bought is the 3 Pattern Pond Fountain Set.  It has 3 different types of fountain heads which create 3 different pattern: spray, bell and frothy.  It also comes with tubing that will fit any pond pump.  Another great aspect of the 3 Pattern Pond Fountain Set is that you can easily adjust the height to fit any pond, so if you ever change the depth of your pond you will not have to purchase a new fountain set.

If you do not want a fountain, you can get a bubbler.  A fountain drives the water high up into the air, while a bubbler just gently releases water at the surface, creating surface bubbles.  Because fountains shoot water higher up in the air, they typically require a more powerful pump than a bubbler would.  The Bubbler Fountain Head Kit 500-2400 gph provides you with the gentle sound of moving water, without using as much energy!
