Preparing to Trap that Varmit Getting into your Garbage!- CLICK HERE!

Preparing to Trap a Live Animal

Recently I had the wonderful opportunity to having to trap a skunk that was becoming too frequent of a visitor in our backyard. Remember to familiarize yourself with the parts of the cage trap that you are using and how it operates BEFORE attempting to trap the varmit in question. There is no doubt in my mind that Havahart Live Animal Traps are the best on the market.

  1. Allowing the animal to become familiar with the cage trap before trapping is often helpful. The best way to do this is to place the cage trap where the animal is usedto feeding. Prop the doors open but do not set the cage trap. Placing bait in the cage trap at this time is optional.

  2. It is advantageous if the animal is hungry before you trap. You may want to suggest to anyone feeding the animal to refrain for a few days.

  3. Decide upon your course of action once the animal is caught. Check with your local or state Game Commission to determine the lawful method of disposing of a captured wild or nuisance animal.

Trapping Tips

Here are some helpful guidelines to follow when trapping the animal:

  1. Locate the cage trap in an area where animals are often observed.
  2. Place the cage trap on a level surface.
  3. Position a side of the cage trap against a wall of a building or in a path commonly traveled by the animal.
All Havahart® traps are constructed of sturdy wire mesh, galvanized for maximum resistance to rust and corrosion. Mesh openings are smaller than competing traps of comparable sizes. Fully assembled and ready for use, Havahart® cage traps come in models sized for a variety of animals. Some models open at both ends to give target animals extra confidence to enter the trap. Traps have the following features:
  • Double and single door models to meet consumer preferences
  • Fully assembled or collapsible
  • Super fast spring loaded doors
  • Easy to bait, set, and release
  • High tensile, sturdy wire mesh, steel reinforced for long life

Patio Fire Pits are the Craze- CLICK HERE!

Some have called me a pyromaniac in the past ... and I'd probably have to agree.

Very, very few events are as mystifying and enjoyable to me as an evening around a fire with friends, family and food. All the better, if it is a chilly fall evening and I have to get closer and closer to the fire as the surrounding air get's cooler and cooler.

We recently picked up a fire pit by Cobraco. I shopped around quite a bit and read reviews on all of the fire pits before I chose this one. I felt that it was necessary to have a cover or mesh lid and this particular fire pit came with matching benches.

Albeit not enough seating area for the type of outdoor entertaining that I like to do, it was a really good deal to get the benches with the pit.

The range of fire pits that are available these days have increased by leaps and bounds. If you can afford a outdoor fireplace, than there are benefits to purchasing one over creating them. The mesh covering that fits precisely is one of those reasons. Don't fret if it's not in the budget this year, though! You can always make a fire pit.

A benefit that I didn't think about before I bought our fire pit is that they can be taken practically anywhere that you could have a bongife. Carry them to the Church picnic or outing (if allowed)!!

The way that firepits are made today allows them to double up as a cooking device too.

From a traditional pits to a modern brick firepit – you’ll find all types of fire pits available.

In closing (drumroll)....

My Favorite Campfire Song:

Let It Be
When I find myself in times of trouble,
Mother Mary comes to me
Speaking words of wisdom, let it be.
And in my hour of darkness
She is standing right in front of me,
Speaking words of wisdom, let it be.
Let it be (4*)
Whisper words of wisdom, let it be.
